The Power Already Under Your Property
Your Water Main Is More Powerful Than You Think

Every home sits on a pressurized water supply. Hainy Hydrant unlocks that power.

Hainy Hydrant vs. Garden Hose

A garden hose was never built to fight fire. Here's how it compares to what your water main can actually deliver through a Hainy Hydrant.

Hainy Hydrant
30+
gal/min
100+
ft reach
Professional fire-rated Type-II hose. 40–120 PSI from your existing water main. All fittings and material is compatible with LAFD and First Responders.
Garden Hose
3–5
gal/min
~45
ft reach
Low pressure. Low flow. Short reach. Designed to water your garden, not fight a fire.
The Key Insight

Your home already has the water. We give you the equipment to use it.

Most residential water mains deliver 40–120 PSI — pressure that gets reduced once it enters the home. Hainy Hydrant is designed to exploit the full force of what's already there. Insuring maximum pressure and maximum flow.

Who Can Use a Hainy Hydrant?

Hainy Hydrant is designed to be operated by anyone. Turn the valve. Pick up the hose. That's it.

01

The Homeowner Who Stays

You know your property, your access points, and where fire approaches from. A permanent hydrant means you can respond to ember ignitions immediately, before they become something bigger.

02

The Neighbor Who Helps

You may evacuate. Your neighbor may stay. Whoever is on scene can defend your home. Fully equipped, no setup required. The system is always ready for whoever shows up first.

03

The First Responder Who Arrives

Built with the same professional-grade equipment used by the US Forestry Service and LAFD. NST fittings mean a crew can connect directly to your hydrant. Immediate water, no delay.

Our Story

Two Generations. One Mission.

Matt Haines is a builder and an L.A. County Call Firefighter who has lived in Corral Canyon, Malibu since the 90s. He's been through some of the most devastating wildfires in California history — the Corral Fire, the Woolsey Fire, the Palisades Fire — and has fought them firsthand, on the ground, protecting his community.

When the Corral Fire swept through Malibu, Matt was on the ground defending homes in his neighborhood with his own personal fire equipment. After saving multiple neighbors' homes, he was recognized with the city's Citizen of the Year honor — the Malibu Dolphin Award. Since then, he knew the way to save your home is to take first action, and he began installing hydrant systems across Corral Canyon. Today, every third house on his street has one.

Now his son-in-law Lasse has joined the mission. Two generations, both from construction, with a shared passion for protecting the communities they live in. They're bringing Hainy Hydrant — built on decades of real firefighting experience — to more families across California.

"I didn't set out to start a company. I just wanted my neighbors' homes to still be there in the morning."

FAQ

Common Questions

Most homes in Malibu and the West Side have 40–120 PSI, which is more than enough. During your free assessment, we test your exact pressure and flow rate on site so you know precisely what your water main can deliver before you commit to anything.
A licensed plumber connects the hydrant directly to your main water line, typically in a few hours. Handy DIY-ers can do it themselves with the instructions we provide. All fittings and adapters are included. Once it's in, it's ready to use immediately.
In most cases, no. The hydrant connects to your existing water main just like any other plumbing fixture. We walk you through the full process during the assessment.
The Starter Package ($1,750) includes one hydrant with a single outlet, one 100ft hose, and one nozzle. Ideal for smaller properties. The Hero Package ($2,750) adds a gated wye for dual outlets, a second hose (50ft), a second nozzle, and a smoke mask & goggles kit, giving you coverage on multiple sides of your property.
Minimal. There's no electricity, no pumps, and no moving parts. We recommend opening the valve once a year to keep it flowing freely. The equipment is built from premium materials designed to withstand the toughest environments.
Many homeowners have used their Hainy Hydrant installation to support fire mitigation documentation for their insurer. Having professional fire protection equipment on your property demonstrates a proactive approach to risk reduction.
Anyone on scene can use it. Your neighbor, a first responder, or a fire crew. No training required. The system is always ready. Just turn the valve and the water flows. That's the whole point. Hainy Hydrant does not encourage you to stay behind.
Yes. All connections use the same thread type used by fire departments nationwide. First responders can connect directly to your hydrant and use it immediately. All hoses and nozzles meet U.S. Forest Service specifications.
